Gerina
- Gerina
A versatile jewel.
Whew! Gerina! Gerina Di Marco. Gerina’s unique style and voice blast off
on her CD Gerina.
A most entertaining blend with just great rock beneath it all spiced
with a little pop-Latin-disco feel but not enough to ever over-power
that great rock sound.
Off to a kicking start on Blind. Wow, she moves from one
brilliant performance into another. Next comes, Blink of an Eye,
what a hit. She’s fun with a sexy voice and represents everything we
like to hear. High’s and lows, energetic, great beat, you wanna listen,
you wanna sing along, you wanna dance and you wanna love as hard as she
does. Gerina hits the hard rock on You Can’t Break Love, almost a
new entity sneaking in the AC/DC back-door telling us this lady is pure
talent. Then whoosh, the bottom drops away on I Don’t Blame You
and the Latin angel re-appears in an emotionally-felt requiem. Oooooh,
Never Ends, has a light Latin-pop beat and it is good and it
works and it flies back into rock. More of Me is more of the
above. Most of the last tracks are in Spanish and work beautifully in
accompaniment. We get it, even if we don’t speak Spanish.
Outstanding vocals, obviously talented producers, and a smashing band
behind her. Gerina is to be heard.

Greenholdt - Wisdom Days
Greenholdt’s journey into mid-life
will carry you where you need to go. Music and lyrics that find their way to
your heart as it makes its own crossing of the wise woman’s threshold. Exploring
lifelong love, regret, old age, dying,
Her band, The Edsel Brothers, provide the perfect accompaniment as together they
roll smoothly toward deepening resonance penetrating the soul and all of our
innermost secrets.
The title cut, Wisdom Days, is probably the lightest listen in this
collection, as Greenholdt probes deeper with each successive song. Waiting
for a Sign, closes the exploration, reminding us all that we must complete
our own individual journey.
Wisdom Days is not an easy
listen but a necessary one for any woman's journey.

Kathy Greenholdt -
Guilty Game
You don’t have to be in Texas to sing country, or new
country, or new-folk-country, or any of the genres this lady falls into . . .
Kathy Grenholdt’s title cut, “Guilty Game,” is one of those songs that grabs you
as soon as you hear the intro, taking you ‘round and round,’ with Greenholdt’s
earthy tones, soothing guitar, and dreamy vocal quality.
Final Judgment, rings not only with acoustic prowess, but with the wisdom of
a seasoned life, "You judge me for my silence, but you cannot judge my soul.”
This woman knows. Nice harmonica on Their Faces, and The Wedding March has
the feel of an old, mountain song depicting two lovers on their special day.
A late-bloomer with a petite Elfin-like appearance and magical song-writing
abilities, Kathy Greenholdt began playing, writing and singing at 38 and in two
years has not only proven herself as an accomplished musician but as a woman on
the rise, watch for her, we will feature her soon.

Marie Gray -
Aeglechylde: Daughter of the Sun
This CD moves quickly from uncertainty to profound intensity. Gray's appeal
develops with an understated approach to songwriting, evidenced in only one
other comparable, Kristofferson. She will draw you in, ready or not. Job's
Child, The Ghost of New York City, Sweating in the Night--create and fill a void
at the same time. Subtlety soul-stirring. Regrets? Only that I didn't listen
sooner.
