From the Editor

Cheryl B.

Women’s Rising has been published since 1994, first as a print newsletter, in 1999 converting to the website which it has now evolved to.

Our focus is on the arts, women's studies and women in music.  Our music site is open to submissions and members.  Our music site was formed to provide complete support for indie women in music.

Women's Rising Music. We are updating daily, including the Women's Rising Music Music directory, articles, resources, promotions and more.  We have been promoting women in music online since 1999, and it's just going to get better.  2008 is a new year with new and better promotions, more artists, and exciting changes like our new directory, enhanced reviews and extended promotional assistance.

In browsing the Internet recently, it was apparent that many women's music sites have come and gone from about 1999 to the present.  During the initial MP3 craze, sites were popping up all over, some legitimate, others not; some professional, some just for fun.  Of all these women's music websites that came and went, only a handful are left, only a handful stood the test of time and true dedication.  And everywhere you look, Women's Rising is counted among them.  We are proud to be here in hosting a wide array of talented women and their music, and to be allowed the privilege of sharing these works with our audience.

We also publish the websites for Southwest Flair, an online Southwestern women's magazine, and Blue Lotus Yoga.

Check back soon as we have lots of exciting changes in store.

The Rising Creed

I see the connectedness of it all.
I gain new understanding to what it is we are.
I devote my life to reclaiming that which we are.
I use my senses to re-establish all that has been lost to divide us from our selves.
I will reclaim what is human, what is humanity.
I will find what is lost.
Given time and meaning, I will promote happiness and worth.
I will rise up to see the wonder and glory in being a new person.
I will no longer hide within the restraints that have been placed on me.
I will forge ahead in beauty and wisdom for all to see.
I will shine in honor of all those that are in me.
For now I have the freedom to gain all that is in me.
To know all that is.
To be of value and placement.
I have come here to do my work.
